Tung oil, the best natural finish
Our products are treated with an environmental friendly oil derived from the seeds of the Tung tree, which is native to Vietnam. This natural oil contains no solvents and hardens well after several layers. It enhances the color of the wood, provides a matt shine and makes our products food-safe and water resistant.
Just as easy to wash as your favorite pan
When proper maintained, Khaya wood last for decades. Our wooden products are not dishwasher safe, but thanks to the special oil finish, they are easy to wash by hand. Cleaning is just as smooth as your pan with a non-stick coating! Perhaps unnecessary to mention, but Khaya wood is not allowed in a (steam) oven or microwave.
Refresh with drying oil
After months of intensive use, you could freshen up your Khaya product with a few drops of drying oil, such as almond oil, walnut oil or grapeseed oil. Let it soak in for a while, then rub it out with a cloth and your product will shine like new again. Do not use olive oil because this will become sticky and gross.
Maintain cutting boards
Food residues can remain in the grooves of a wooden cutting board. You can easily clean a wooden cutting board with natural ingredients. Sprinkle sea salt onto the board, squeeze lemon juice over the salt. Use the lemon half to scrub the board, using the salt as an abrasive. Rinse the board with warm water, dry it with a cloth or paper towel. It is important that the board is well dried before oiling. The oil will be absorbed better that way.
